HMS Excellent Marina is a Service charity, not publicly funded, administered by the Marina Management Committee responsible
to the Commanding Officer, HMS Excellent. The Marina is an encroachment to the Establishment. The areas that form the
Marina are the 4 pontoon walks that attach to G Mooring and the secure boat storage (trailered craft) compound at Horsea Island.
G Mooring itself is an HMS Excellent facility that serves the needs of those arriving and leaving HMS Excellent by boat.
The HMS Excellent Marina is also referred to colloquially as "G Mooring Marina."
Berthing and storage space are allocated by the Marina Committee with priority being given to applications from serving and MoD entitled personnel, working in the Establishment.Other applications will be considered by the Marina Committee from those who meet the criteria to use an encroachment or benefit from the use of the assets of a Service Fund as defined in current regulations. All Marina berths are restricted to craft of 34ft and under length overall (bowsprit to stern) and those leased are allocated from 1 April for one year.
Enquiries about a berth or storage should be made to the Berthing Secretary at: marina.management@hmsexcellentmarina.net

HMS EXCELLENT TOUCH PASS PROTOCOL
Touch Pass Protocol has been introduced from 21 November 2023 to the control of entry system for HMS Excellent. Full details are available in the Members/Documentation page.
STRAY YACHT ON D PONTOON
A blue hulled yacht has been moored to the north side of D leg by the MoD having broken free of her moorings in the recent storm. The Committee and KHM are aware and action is being taken to identify the owner. Many thanks to the eagle eyed berth holders who had noticed her and reported to the Committee.
IMPORTANT SECURITY INFORMATION
An extract from HMS Excellent & Navy Command HQ Orders covering security requirements for visitors to HMS Excellent can be viewed on the website Members/Documentation page.
REMOVAL OF MOORING LINES & DOCK FENDERS
'C' leg berth holders are requested to ensure that all their dock fenders and mooring lines are removed from the pontoons on departure for winter storage and no later than end October. Failure to do so may result in their loss when the pontoons are removed in the following months. .
KHM STICKERS
Berth holders have questioned whether we should be displaying the KHM stickers that have been seen on small craft in the harbour. We have received confirmation that, as we are a marina attached to an MoD establishment, these stickers are not required for our boats.
BERTH HOLDERS - CHANGE OF BOAT
Berth holders are reminded that the annual berth allocated to them is only for the boat applied for. Should a change of boat be considered then please discuss this with the Berthing Secretary to ensure compatibility with the year's berthing plan. The marina can only accept boats up to a maximum overall length of 34 feet. Users of the Horsea Island Small boat compound are reminded that space is allocated for storage of approved boats and trailers only. Storage of other trailers is not permitted.
ESTABLISHMENT CAR PASSES
During patrols of car parks throughout Whale Island it has been noted that there are many vehicles that are parked which do not display a valid car pass. This is a potential security risk as it is not known who the vehicle belongs to nor if it is authorised to be there. This also causes issues if there is a requirement for a vehicle to be moved due to work/security requirements and places additional burden on the Executive Department to trace the owner. Car Passes are not just to be shown on entry to the Establishment they are to be always on display whilst on the Island.
LONG TERM PARKING WITHIN HMS EXCELLENT
Personnel who require to park their vehicle Longer Term (Over 1 week). The routine for Long Term Car Park is the Vehicle should be parked in Car Park 1 with the keys either left in the Guardroom or with your line management (with a note on the dashboard to the name/place of work for the POC) in the event of a requirement for the vehicle to be moved.
